Campaigning

Cambridge University Amnesty International

Thousands of people around the world are imprisoned for things that Cambridge students do all the time – expressing political opinions, criticising the government, and exercising basic human rights like freedom of association. Cambridge Uni Amnesty International is a group of us who try to do something to stand up for people who are unjustly persecuted. Amnesty International is the world’s largest human rights organisation and we campaign as part of that movement to promote human rights to members of Cambridge University and to end specific human rights abuses.

Cambridge People and Planet

People and Planet is a national network of students working together to make their universities greener and more ethical, target corporations who put profit before people and the planet, and educate ourselves on social and environmental issues so that we can campaign as effectively as possible.

Cambridge Speak

SPEAK is a national network of students who campaign and pray on issues of global injustice, linking people together and resourcing them to use their voice to call for change. Recent campaigns have focused on corporate accountability, the arms trade, and trade justice. We currently meet on a Monday evening to share a meal, pray, study the Bible and take action to tackle injustice around the world. Our aim is to build a community of like-minded people who want to see their faith lived out in bringing change to situations of injustice.

Cambridge Stop AIDS Society

HIV and AIDS is one of the most devastating crises of our generation. 40 million people are already HIV positive, and that number grows by one every 10 seconds. We believe we cannot stand by and watch people die, watch children being orphaned, societies being devastated and economies crumble.
