Linkline

Linkline is a listening and information service run by students for students in Cambridge. We are open from 7pm-7am every night of full term and offer both a phone-line and a drop-in service, although the latter is only available until 10:30pm. We’re here because we understand that sometimes you just need to talk and that there are times when your friends aren’t about or when you may not feel comfortable talking to them for whatever reason. Linkline provides an anonymous way to talk to someone who will listen confidentially and non-judgmentally to whatever you have to say. We won’t know who you are beyond what you tell us and the 1471 function is disabled on our phones. Linkline has no religious or political affiliations and our volunteers are trained extensively so that they are non-directive and so we won’t tell you what we think you should do in any situation. There is a large information database available to our volunteers containing websites, addresses and phone-numbers for anything from local taxi firms through to national organizations supporting people with specific problems. As such if you just want to find out where more specific services or support are available you can always phone and utilize this information service. Finally Linkline can provide you with free condoms, pregnancy tests or attack alarms if you drop by our office during our open hours. We recruit volunteers once every year in mid-October. Our phone numbers are 01223 744444 01223 367575 or our CU extension number is 62212 and you can find our office in St. Edwards Passage just behind HSBC on Market Square. For more information see our website, www.linkline.org.uk.
