The Café Project
The Cafe Project is a volunteer-run community cafe at 22 Jesus Lane, serving hot drinks and simple food in the evenings. It is available for meetings, discussions, art and more, and provides a bridge between “town and gown”. To find out how you can get involved, take a look at their website!
Student Community Action (SCA)
SCA has been established to encourage the involvement of students in voluntary work, providing services to disadvantaged groups within the community and giving students a valuable learning experience. Since registering as a charity in 1972 they have gone from strength to strength and now offer more than 70 volunteering opportunities.
Camvol
Camvol was established in November 2006, and is a UK registered charity. Camvol organises volunteer placements with environment and development related NGOs in India. Students usually volunteer during the summer vacation, between July and September each year, for a period of six to eight weeks.
Engineers Without Borders Cambridge (EWB)
EWB tries to encourage people to gain an interest in the topics of sustainability, humanitarian work, and international development. It’s not just for engineers!
CambridgeUniversityStudent Action for Refugees (STAR)
STAR is a society dedicated to raising awareness and campaigning for refugees alongside volunteering with refugees in the local community. Activities include teaching in Cambridgeshire schools on refugee issues and visiting detainees at Oakington Reception Centre.
Linkline
Linkline is a student-run listening and information service for Cambridge University and Anglia Ruskin University students. Linkline runs between 7pm and 7am every night during Cambridge University full term.They recruit and train inOctober each year.Volunteers work for about half the night, 3-4 times per term.
Travelaid
TravelAid collaborates with partner charities from across the developing world to provide university students with the chance to engage in valuable and worthwhile volunteering projects. Projects span four continents and range from education and microfinance to health and social inclusion.
Contact
Contact is a student-run charity providing a visiting service for the elderly and house-bound in the Cambridge area. Visitors are students at Cambridge University and Anglia Ruskin University. They visit people isolated in their homes by disability or mobility problems - individuals who might not otherwise have any contact with the outside world. Visitors spend one hour a week during term with their visitee, offering conversation and companionship.
Cambridge Oxfam Group

The Cambridge Oxfam Group is a group of volunteers who support Oxfam by campaigning and fundraising. They welcome people of all ages and backgrounds who wish to help.
Oxbridge Cultural Exchange Project (OCEP)
OCEP is a UK-based charity, run predominantly by students, whose aim is to promote education and alleviate poverty worldwide. To learn more about the vision, history and most importantly people that make OCEP what it is today, check out their website. OCEP sends volunteers to run summer camps for children in mainland China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Japan and Korea.
CambridgeVolunteers in Nepal (CVN)
Cambridge Volunteers in Nepal is a group of Cambridge students who have all volunteered in Nepal in the past and wish to continue sending as many volunteers as possible out to the same schools in Nepal each summer because they love Nepal and want to continue helping by letting Nepal inspire more people! They are a student group who take no money for arranging the placements, but are just the link to facilitate the teaching placements, and help advise and prepare volunteers.
CambridgeUniversityExpeditions Society (CUEX)
CUEX is a student-run society and it is their aim to inspire, support and encourage students within Cambridge to organise, plan and join expeditions. The society provides the resources, knowledge and framework to help this process all the way from its initial conception to its ultimate implementation.
